Hello friends and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner!
I'm happy that you stopped by because I have another fun card to share with you.  This card has more of my friend, Tatiana's beautiful hand-crocheted flowers!  If you missed yesterday's post that featured one of her beauties, you can see it HERE.  And, if you would like to visit Tatiana's Blog and learn more about her beautiful embellishments, just hop over to Created By Tatiana.

For today's card, I went with a long 9.5 inch card....

Hello Friend

Good morning everyone and welcome to my little corner of the crafting world!
I'm really happy that you stopped by today because I have something fun to share with you today.  You know how we crafters are always looking for something new that we can add to our embellishment stash?  Well, a very sweet friend of mine just sent me a bag full of fun, bright, happy little embellishments that she crocheted by hand and I'm totally loving them!

Many of you may already know my friend Tatiana of Created By Tatiana.  She is a wonderfully talented scrapper who also happens to be a wonderfully talented crocheter (I'm thinking that may not be an actual word, but it fits)!  Anyway, Tatiana has just opened up a new store at Etsy and is busy as a bee posting her cute little creations!  You can see her store, Crochet Embellies by clicking HERE.

Before you hop off to visit Tatiana's store, let me show you a card I whipped up to showcase one of her beautiful little embellishments....

How cute is this little dress?

* Dress shaped card is from the Silhouette Online Store
* Paper is from UpTown Flair by Paper Studio
* Crochet Flower - Small 5 Petal Flower by Crochet Embellies
* I added a small black brad to the center of the flower
* I added clear Stickles to the cut out circles on my dress

Here's the inside of my card...

* Black gel pen
* Sentiment from Pink By Design

And there you go...a simple card made super cute with that hot pink crocheted flower!
I love it!  I hope you will stop by Tatiana's Blog and keep up with her as she adds more and more of these beauties to  her new store.  By the way, Tatiana will also be accepting custom orders.  So, if you need something in a special color, be sure to check with her.

Ok, that's it for me right now.  I'm off to pick up my grand daughters for a spend the night/swim party!  Say a prayer for me...two busy girls and a nosy little puppy...this should be fun!  I'll be back soon with more of Tatiana's Embellishments...can't wait to share them with you!

God Bless America

Hello everyone and Happy Memorial Day to you!
What a great way to start the week, honoring those who gave all so that we might enjoy the freedoms available in our wonderful country!

Before I get started with today's project, I just wanted to tell you all how much I have appreciated all of your kind comments about my recent dental work.  I loved every single sweet comment!  And, I as I write this, I am feeling so much better. It took several days for the soreness to go away, but I can finally drink COFFEE....yea....happy days are here again! Ok, here we go....

This week our "Challenge Me Monday" over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog is all about Memorial Day.  Our challenge to you this week is to create a project using the color RED and anything that reminds you of Memorial Day, such as a flag, a military symbol, a poppy, etc.

I decided to try something a little different for this week's challenge.  During one of my online shopping sprees research missions, I came across a cute, unfinished, wooden flag at Oh My Crafts.  When I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for this week's challenge....

I started with the wood cut outs from Oh My Crafts....

(photo from Oh My Crafts Website)

I used my Tim Holtz Distress Stains to "paint" around the edges of each wood piece...

Then, I flipped each piece over and traced it onto patterned paper.  I cut each section just a bit smaller than what I had traced and inked up the edges.  Using Mod Podge, I adhered the paper to each wood section.  Next, I used some "Tacky Glue" to adhere all the wood pieces together.

Paper info:
* The red stripes and the blue corner are covered with paper from the "Vintage Nation" paper stack by The Paper Studio.
* I just could not find the off-white paper that I was looking for to use on this project. So, I grabbed some Bazzill cardstock in an ivory color and used my stamps to add a little detail...
* Pink By Design - "Script" Background stamp
*Pink by Design - "Oh Boy" stamp set (that tiny little star!)

I also stamped the "Script" background onto another sheet of Bazzill cardstock and cut out 50 stars at .75 inches using the "Stand and Salute" Cricut cartridge. (It probably would not have looked so crowded if I had cut the stars at .5 inches. Oh well, live and learn!)  I inked up the edges and glued them into place.

The phrase "God Bless America" is also from the "Stand and Salute" cartridge.  This cut was made at 3.5 inches.  I used pop dots to adhere the phrase to the flag so that it would stand out a bit.

I really like the way this project turned out!  And, here it is on a shelf in my family room....

Perk Up!

Hello everyone and welcome to my little corner of the crafting world!
I hope your day is going well. Today is a much better day for me than the one I had yesterday!  I had my first appointment (of many) to prepare my mouth for a dental implant.  So, yesterday was not much fun.  The implant is to replace a tooth that has had a root canal and crown for several years.  I opted for numbing rather than being put to sleep because I hate the after effects of being put to sleep. The crown was removed first (not too bad), then it was time to pull the remaining tooth (yikes).  The Doc told me that often times a tooth that has had a root canal will become brittle.  So, when it is pulled, it shatters.  Yep, that's what happened to me!  Seems like he worked little pieces of my tooth out for hours, but it was really only a matter of minutes.  Next came packing bone graft material into the cavity left by the roots.  And he packed, and he packed, and he packed!  Then, 3 stitches to hold everything in place, to be removed in 2 weeks.  This has to heal for 4 months and we go onto to the next step...fun, fun, fun!

So...was your day better than mine?  Well a day and a half later, I am feeling much better.  My mouth is really sore and I will be eating soft foods for awhile, but that's ok.  Hey, I've already lost 2 pounds on the "Dental Implant Diet"...lol!  I feel so much better that I decided to do something I haven't done in awhile...enter a crafting challenge or two!  I have spent several hours not feeling like doing much of anything but visiting blogs and seeing what everyone else was up to.  During my visits I found a couple of challenges that I thought I would play along with....

Bitten By The Bug 2  -  Kitchen Challenge
Exploring Cricut  - Use a neglected cartridge

Lucky me, my card fits in beautifully with both of these challenges!

I love the way this card turned out, but it really does make me miss my coffee even more!  No hot beverages for a few more days....sigh...

Recipe:
* The card base was created in "Cricut Craft Room" using the "From My Kitchen" cartridge  (a cart that is very neglected in my craft room)
* I inked up the edges in Distress Ink "Broken China" and added Crystal Stickles to the white portions of the coffee pot
* Tag is from "Birthday Bash" page 69
* Sentiment - Pink By Design "Perk Up" stamp set
* I added some black twine and a punched flower to my tag

Ok, I'm off to link up my card!  Thank you for stopping by and I'll be seeing you soon!
Until next time,

You Did It!

Hello there and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner!
I hope you had  a wonderful weekend and I hope you are ready for another "Challenge Me Monday"!   This week at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog we have a great challenge for you.  It's that time of year again and our challenge is called...

"You Did It"!
This week's challenge is to create a graduation project.
Remember, you must use at least one Cricut cut somewhere on your project.

The youngest grandchild on my hubby's side of the family is graduating high school this month, so this challenge was the perfect time to make a card for him.  I kept it pretty simple... CJ is a good old country boy and not one for any frills or fru, fru!  It's really tough for me to "keep it simple", but I think I pulled it off for CJ's card....

Recipe:

*I layered my printed paper over a black mat and used my sewing machine and black thread to stitch around the edges.  This layer was adhered to a white card base.
* The cap is from the Cricut cartridge "Wrap It Up" and is cut at 3.5 inches.  I cut the base layer out twice and used pop dots to adhere them and give some dimension.
*  I added Glossy Accents to the "button" of the cap and Gold Stickles to the tassel.
* I hand cut the banner from white cardstock and stamped "Congratulations" using the Pink By Design stamp set "Giant Greetings".
* Next, I cut another banner (slightly larger) from the black cardstock.  Again, I used my sewing machine to add a bit of stitching in black.
* The numbers 2012 are cut from the "Kate's ABCs" cartridge at .5 inches.  The numbers also were covered with Glossy Accents.

CJ's school colors are green and white and I wanted to incorporate the green without it being so overwhelming.  I think this great background paper adds just the right amount of green without being too bold.  Like I said, it's a pretty simple card, but I kinda like it!

Now, I hope you will stop by FCCB and check out all the fantabulous graduation projects the Design Team has put together for your inspiration.  You won't be sorry that you stopped by, there are some amazing (non-simple) creations for you to see!  Next, you need to go...get creative...then link up your amazing creation with us at FCCB.  I can't wait to see what you create!
